ETHYLENE GLYCOL RECOVERY PROCESS

Recover Ethylene Glycol with Castion's TechnologyRecover ethylene glycol to recycle or reuse in many applications, including automobiles, with CASTion's Ethylene (and propylene) Recovery Process. The process combines our CAST technology with pre-treatment to obtain an ethylene glycol recovery rate of 95% with 99% purity.

Used ethylene glycol contains inhibitor salts, ash, dissolved metals, organic acids, motor oils and other adulterants. The volumetric ratio of used ethylene glycol to water is 55% to 45%. Our Ethylene Recovery Process includes two CAST components constructed of 304 and 316 stainless steel to avoid corrosion. These units are staged for double distillation to attain 99% purity of the recovered product. Pre-treatment components include conventional precipitation and flocculants to precipitate dissolved phosphates and nitrates as well as granular-activated carbon to remove dissolved organic acids.

Pure ethylene glycol is recovered in the second CAST component and transferred into a storage tank. If the product is to be reused or recycled for automotive uses, an additive package can be blended with the recovered product and diluted to meet ASTM and GM specifications for resale.

The concentrate  from the CAST  will be disposed as waste containing 5-6% ethylene glycol plus still bottoms containing water and concentrated dissolved salts.
