CASTion Products
Why are CASTion's wastewater solutions better?

First, we don't just treat the wastewater--we recover the value in it. Our Industrial Solutions will return your wastewater to you to use as process water and return your feedstocks to you for either reuse in your process or for recycling and reuse by others.

Second, our technologies are better. Our CAST and RCAST technologies can process a wide variety of contaminates, from metals to organics, without as much pre-treatment as other technologies. CAST and RCAST are both based on flash vacuum distillation--an efficient separation method.

Third, our industrial solutions offer a return on your investment because:

  • Our systems are manufactured.
  • We recover rather than merely treating.
  • Our systems are easy to operate and maintain.

This translates into lower costs for you--expenses that are offset by the recovery of water and process chemicals. Often our clients have a complete return on their investment within two years.

Fourth, our solutions are green. Because our CAST and RCAST technologies are enclosed systems, they produce minimal air emissions, and because we recover resources, our systems produce much lower greenhouse gases emissions. CASTion has the only written EPA RCRA exemption for our Zero Liquid Discharge System.

How does the CAST technology work?

Our technology platform is called Controlled Atmosphere Separation Technology (CAST), and it uses the physical and chemical properties of the process chemistry that we are recovering to separate and recover it from the wastewater. Based on flash vacuum distillation, we adjust temperature, pressure and pH to extract contaminates or water through their partial pressures.

What industrial wastewaters can you recover?

CASTion currently has systems installed in over 50 industrial applications. We can recover metals such as chrome, copper, and zinc;  salts and organic compounds such as ethylene and propylene glycol, and compounds such as ammonia. The list below is a partial list of industrial applications where we have successfully recovered wastewater:

  • Aerospace
  • Beverage
  • Chemical Processes
  • Metals Working
  • Food
  • Micro-Electronics
  • Military
  • Municipal
  • Petro-Chemical
  • Plating/Surface Finishing
  • Power
  • Chemical Recovery
  • Inorganic Separation
  • Metals Removal/Recovery
  • Oil & Grease Removal
  • Organic Recovery
  • Organic Removal
  • Suspended Solids Removal
  • Zero Liquid Discharge

How can I determine if CAST is right for my company?

Within our facility, we have a 2,600 square foot chemical bench-scale test laboratory and three pilot systems: 1 gpm, 10 gpm  and a full-scale 400 gpm system. By taking a small sample of our wastewater, we can first test for the constituents present and determine whether CAST can be used.

After we make an initial determination, we take a 55 gallon sample and run it through our 1 or 10 gpm pilot system to determine the design parameters for your system. If it is necessary to test full-scale, we can use our 400 gpm pilot.

I have difficult wastewater. Can I use CAST?

The CAST technology is very robust and is constructed to withstand the harshest chemical environment. Our systems have been used in tough acidic and basic conditions under extreme temperatures and pressures and with multiple contaminates and chemistries. Chances are, CAST technology can help your company operate more efficiently and cost effectively.

What is Zero Liquid Discharge?

Zero Liquid Discharge is a term used to describe  the elimination of  wastewater discharge to a sanitary sewer or for offsite disposal. Our CAST technology can be used to recover nearly 100% of your wastewater for reuse in your plant as process water, which helps you save on disposal costs. CAST technology can also concentrate your hazardous waste to as little as 5% of your original volume, which will further reduce your waste disposal costs.

Why is your Zero Liquid Discharge System RCRA-permit free?

Our CAST technology is a closed-loop system, which is exempt from US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state RCRA  permit requirements for water and air discharges. US EPA has granted CASTion the only permit exemption for a Zero Liquid Discharge System. The RCRA exemption means CASTion can you save you both time and money.
